At BREAKOUT we pride ourselves as being the North East’s ONLY full time professional Hockey Store and skate sharpening experts. We retail to ALL levels of hockey players including a number of Elite League players. We have also had the pleasure of being recommended by professional hockey players for all your skate sharpening needs.
For our skate sharpening services, we only use products endorsed by The Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers. The equipment we use is also the official brand of Team Canada and Team USA.
Not only are our finishing wheels precision balanced but we only use the best high performance finishing wheels, which are of aerospace grade construction. This compound grinds exceptionally cool and requires less cutting pressure for an optimal finish.
As we care for our customers, BREAKOUT will continue not charge more than a regular grind to repair badly sharpened skates. However, if new skates are not purchased from one of our stores, the first grind will be subject to a £10 charge.
We are a Hockey / Skating store located within the heart of the North East's Ice & Roller Hockey community. We aim to provide our customers with a one-stop shop for all their hockey needs.Located just one mile off the A1, we are conveniently situated for teams visiting the North East, as well as being central to the area’s ice & roller hockey clubs.
We continue to use our pricing structure which enables us to be one of the most competitive stores in the UK. This, coupled with our service that we pride ourselves with, really does leave our competition ‘back-checking’.

SERVICES
At Breakout we offer a complete range of services for all of your hockey and skating needs.
Boot Fitting – When purchasing from our Durham store, we make sure your skates you buy fit you. We will measure each individuals feet (Length, Width & Volume) to make sure your skates are the best possible fit.
Heat Fitting – Our skate ovens will mould your new skates to your feet.
Boot Stretching – Do your skates nip or rub? If so, we can stretch certain parts of your boot to help relieve pain in these pressure points.
Skate Sharpening – Done while you wait, and you choose your grind!! (There will be a charge of £10 for a first grind on new skates not purchased from ourselves)
Free heat fitting (where possible), stretching and first grind with any pair of skates purchased from our Durham store.
We can replace loose or lost rivets and eyelets. We can also re-mount or change holders and blades as well as being able to convert your old ice skates into inline skates. (Please contact us for a quote)
We offer a Custom Skate Programme with Graf & CCM.
